Briefly: lawyer, expert and trainer on church-state relations, human rights activist, postgraduate, father.
Occupation: Executive Director of the Institute for Religious Freedom NGO, Ukraine.
Recent expert and human rights activity:
- Member of the Expert Council on freedom of conscience and religious organizations’ activity under the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine (since March 2015),
- Deputy chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on matters of cooperation with Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (a member since May 2009).
Is working on the amendments and new wording of the Law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious organizations” and related laws as a member of several interdepartmental working groups. Is an author of the several draft laws and adopted laws on freedom of religion or belief, peaceful assemblies, objections of conscience, tax regulations.
Trainer and expert on freedom of conscience and religion, Church-State relations and inter-faith dialogue. In 2014 – 2017 was engaged by OSCE ODIHR and the Council of Europe as national expert for providing the practical human rights seminars.
Private legal practice: human rights protection, pre-trial settlement of legal conflicts, preparation of claims, petitions and appeals. Development of statutory documents and contracts for businesses and individuals. Legal support during the trial.
Research interests: issues of constitutional and legislative regulation of church-state relations, the legal status of religious organizations and their role in social development.
Relationship status: married, bringing up two children.
